The Blessing
Sweet Presence in the morning dawn of prayer
I woke on a Saturday before the alarms
Before the pitter, patter rabble of little growing feet
In the soft breathing warmth of morning
To the sound of birds
The freshness of the cherry blossoms about to open
In the massive tree that fill our window
In that moment
Almost just before I knew the day
This sweet enveloping presence touched my soul
And I knew

Somewhere my name and need
Was rising before the face of God
And He has sent the Comforter
More tender than the warmth calling me back to sleep
More alive then the sound of the morning outside
The gentle sweet presence of prayer
Blessing my day
