Today is Easter Monday and for a day off activity we went to an movie call I can only imagine by Mercy Me which is a very inspirational show on forgiveness, transformation and seeing our eternity in heaven. That eternity is mirrored this Easter by the shout of joy on Easter morning when we all Say Hallelujah He is Risen. However before the He is Risen we here other voices on Good Friday that say Crucify Him and our whole Holy Week is that long journey to the Cross. I Can Only Imagine makes us forget that long journey , it lifts us beyond the pains of our past, the loss , our own individual story and brings us into the Presence of Christ in Glory. When this movie ended tonight , we just sat and closed our eyes to listen to the song one last time and there was a hush in the movie theatre , a hush I have not felt in a theatre since the Passion of the Christ. Somehow the words transend . It is as if for one small moment we touch and taste a piece of Glory and all is left behind in a breathe as we find our way Home. I am , and was reminded in the silence of that moment that there is more here for me to do. There are stories to write coming from the same place as this song that are transcendent. That each of us have an alabaster jar of story we want to break across the feet of Christ and fill the room with the fragrance. It costs us to break this open but it lives on in memory. This song cost the writer the cracking open of his life , yet it has brought healing and hope to so many. If you have not seen I Can Only Imagine ...go with an open mind and do not expect a Star Wars Epic or Hunger Games or Avengers. This is not this kind of movie. This is a story about a song that ministers to the hearts of so many that came from a heart long broken that found a place to heal.
